A few months ago, I began a new chapter, starting the Masters in Finance at London Business School. I came to LBS hoping for academic rigour, meaningful community, and opportunities to grow. As I settle into my second term, I can already see how deeply this experience is shaping me.
Why LBS?
Before LBS, I worked as an investment banking analyst in Accra. I wanted to deepen my technical skills while also entering an environment that valued collaboration, curiosity, and global perspectives. I knew that coming to London Business School would help me actualise this goal, so I did!
This transition has been supported by the sacrifices of my parents and family, the generous scholarship from the TY Danjuma Family Office, and the constant encouragement of my family, friends, mentors, and former colleagues. Just as much, my drive and dogged determination to do well in the face of difficulties.
Reflections From My First Term

In my first term, I was selected as a MiF Student Ambassador, took on the role of Vice President of Community for the Black in Business Club, and joined the TEDxLondonBusinessSchool Committee. While each role is different, they all reflect something I value, which is the connection between people, ideas, and experiences.
Some of my favourite memories from the first term have been small but meaningful moments that brought the LBS community to life. Grabbing lunch with my mates after classes, working on assignments together, and studying for exams with classmates all created a special sense of camaraderie; the encouragement and shared determination strengthened our bonds beyond the classroom.
Other times, trying out new things like watching a football game at Stamford Bridge with some of my closest friends reminded me how important it is to enjoy the social side of student life alongside academic and extracurricular commitments.
Looking Ahead
As the new term begins, I find myself reflecting on the one just past. I feel more settled into the rhythm of life at LBS, more intentional about how I spend my time, and more open to building relationships beyond my immediate programme. I’ve come to believe that engaging with students and faculty across different programmes and clubs will make the experience feel broader, richer, and more meaningful.
I’m grateful for the people I’m learning alongside and the environment that continues to shape this journey.
If you are thinking about joining the Masters in Finance or any Masters programme at London Business School, here are a few things I’ve learned quickly:
- Be open. Talk to people, attend events, try things that feel slightly outside your comfort zone, but also ask for help when you need it, no later.
- Prioritise community. The people you meet will shape your experience more than anything else.
- Give and receive help. You don’t need to have everything figured out on day one.
- Don’t lose sight of your goals. LBS puts you ahead, but it is still not a magic wand; you must put in the work. So, schedule coffee chats, apply to the jobs, do well in school, go for the treks and have fun doing it!
