Week 1 was an absolute blast! You’re packing up your whole life, diving into a new city, sorting out your accommodation, meeting tons of awesome new people, and jumping headfirst into all the fun activities you can handle. It’s non-stop excitement from the moment you arrive! I’ve spent the past six years working in management consulting, constantly on the go from one country to the next for different client projects. I thought this transition would be a breeze. But guess what? It’s been so much more exciting than I ever imagined – full of unforgettable surprises that made the experience even better!
First Day at LBS – Get Ready to Be Amazed!
Just a year ago, I was excitedly discussing my plans to pursue an MBA with a Partner at the consulting firm where I worked. Fast forward to now, and I’m sitting in Sussex Place, the main campus of London Business School, writing this article during my first week here. It’s astonishing how much can change in just a year. I still remember the blend of nerves and excitement as I prepared to meet over 400 of the brightest minds from around the globe, all gathered in one place. When Helen Foley, our Programme Director, welcomed us with “Welcome, MBA Class of 2026,” I felt a thrilling rush of goosebumps. In that moment, it all became real. Every person in that room had achieved something remarkable to be here, and I couldn’t feel luckier to be part of such an extraordinary cohort. I was excited to connect with each of my classmates and hear their inspiring stories.
Diversity Thrives at London Business School – Experience It for Yourself!
This year, LBS welcomed 431 students to the London campus for their flagship two-year MBA programme, representing over 60 nationalities! Together, our cohort brings an incredible 2,345 years of collective professional experience – that’s mind-blowing! I’ll never forget my first conversation with a Navy SEAL who shared his leadership journey, leading a battalion and defending his country. Moments like that make you realize the depth of experience here at LBS. What’s more, the school ensures you’re placed in a study group where each member comes from a different country and sector. My group is an amazing mix – a Management Consultant (me), a Doctor, a Tech. Product Manager, and a Banker, with backgrounds spanning Mexico, the UK, the USA, Thailand – and me from India. It’s this rich diversity that makes every interaction at LBS so inspiring and transformative.

Get ready for an electrifying experience that kicks off the LBS journey with a bang! Away Day is not just about fun; it’s a powerhouse of team-building activities that sets you up for success. This action-packed day offers a golden opportunity to bond with the study group and gear up for the collaborative challenges ahead. From rock climbing to vaulting over poles, each activity is designed to test your limits and forge unbreakable team connections. With expert group coaching adding valuable insights and feedback, we built stronger relationships and a deeper understanding of our teammates. It’s the ultimate adventure that primes us for an amazing MBA journey ahead.
LBS is as international as it gets, and nothing beats the location!
London is a city like no other, brimming with events and adventures every week. From the vibrant LatAm party at La Pollera Colora to the scenic strolls along London Bridge, there’s always something exciting happening. Just last week, a group from our cohort took a quick one-hour train ride for an unforgettable trek to the Seven Sisters. With so many people in the classroom, it can feel overwhelming; how will you get to know them all? But it’s experiences like these that help you connect with those you haven’t had a chance to meet yet. During the six-hour trek, I had conversations with so many new people, building friendships and creating lasting connections. It’s these adventures outside the classroom that make the LBS experience truly special.
Welcome Barbecue at Sussex Lawn: A Perfect End to an Amazing First Week!
After an exhilarating Week 1, we capped it off with an epic Welcome Barbecue at Sussex Lawn. This vibrant event brought students and their partners together for an afternoon of meaningful connections and storytelling. It wasn’t just an opportunity to get to know my classmates better, but also to meet their partners and families. The week was so well-orchestrated that by the time the BBQ came around, I was buzzing with excitement to catch up with new friends. Sussex Lawn was alive with energy – picture live music, mouthwatering BBQ, and an ice cream van that was the cherry on top. We spent the afternoon lounging on the grass, swapping life stories, and soaking up every moment of this fantastic gathering.
By the end of Week 1, it became crystal clear that the MBA journey at London Business School isn’t just about personal growth and success. It’s about building deep connections, tackling challenges as a team, and creating unforgettable memories. I never thought so much could happen in just one week! And this is only the beginning.
