Why I chose London Business School: Women at LBS – Anushka Mirchandani, MBA2025

By Anushka Mirchandani, MBA2025

I chose London Business School not only for its global prestige and ranking but also for its strong emphasis on community and people. For me, business school is more than just academics—it’s about the doors that open to countless opportunities and the relationships that shape your journey. I sought an environment that would allow me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and fully immerse myself in a multicultural experience.

Now, one year into the programme, I can confidently say that both my peers and the faculty have been a constant source of support, fuelling my personal and professional growth. The connections I’ve built here are invaluable, and I believe these relationships will last a lifetime. LBS has also given me access to an incredible network of women who offer unwavering support, mentorship, and inspiration.

Among the many experiences and conferences I’ve attended and led, one of the most impactful was HackLBS, a two-day hackathon where I collaborated with mentors and teammates to develop innovative ideas and pitch them in real time. This event ignited my passion for entrepreneurship and gave me a taste of the excitement that comes with building something from the ground up.

The Women in Business Conference was another key moment that shaped my outlook on leadership. A standout session with Leena Nair, the CEO of Chanel, as part of the Trailblazers speaker series, left a lasting impression on me. Her insights on navigating challenges and embracing bold decisions encouraged me to pursue my career with confidence. One powerful takeaway was the importance of never letting naysayers stand in the way and embracing challenges head-on.

A major highlight of my time at LBS was leading a venture capital trek to the UAE, which deepened my understanding of the VC ecosystem and strengthened my interest in the startup landscape—a field I am eager to pursue in the long term.

LBS also enriched my cultural experience. I’ve attended events hosted by the Japan Club, where I learned the art of brewing matcha from experts, and by the Middle East Club, where I had the chance to savour regional cuisine and feel a sense of home. One of my favourite moments was attending the school’s flagship Tattoo festival, where cultural clubs showcased captivating dance performances, adding vibrancy to the diverse community at LBS.

On the professional front, I’ve received exceptional guidance from the career centre and peer leaders, who helped me explore my interests in tech, consulting, and venture capital. A defining moment during my MBA was my internship at Careem, the Middle East’s leading super app owned by Uber. At Careem, I worked on groundbreaking AI projects, collaborated with some of the most talented individuals, and gained valuable insights into the tech and AI-driven transformations reshaping industries.

As I look ahead to my second year, I’m excited for the new opportunities and experiences that await me at LBS. I feel ready to embrace the challenges and continue my journey of growth and discovery.
