Embarking on a One-year MBA is an exhilarating and transformative experience. In London Business School’s Career Centre, we recognise the unique challenges and opportunities that come with an accelerated learning experience. This blog serves as your guide to understanding the extensive career support available to you before, during, and after your One-year MBA.
Before you start: Access to a bespoke pre-programme module
One of the key advantages of the One-year MBA is the ability to condense your learning into a shorter timeframe. This also means that if you aim to seek new employment post-graduation, you need to be recruiter ready as soon as you join LBS.
To set you up for success beyond your One-year MBA, the LBS Career Centre has curated a bespoke career pre-programme module. This module is designed to fit your specific needs, so you can self-identify and prioritise any key areas or skills you need to work on before you start applying to opportunities. Given that some sectors and industries have early application deadlines at the start of the Autumn term, Career Coaches will run workshops alongside the pre-programme module, allowing students to practice concepts and techniques with their classmates. Upon completion, you will retain access throughout your studies, so this pre-programme becomes a useful guide for when you go through the job search process.
As you study: Benefit from an embedded career curriculum
During the One-year MBA, you’ll complete a for-credit career curriculum that is integrated with your studies. In this credited curriculum, you’ll work on your personal and professional development and strategic career management skills through various touchpoints in the year, such as workshops, networking events, and one-on-one coaching sessions. Every topic within the embedded career curriculum is designed to enhance your career prospects and lifelong learning. By aligning these topics with your studies, you have the time to build essential career skills and maintain your professional network alongside the learnings taught in lectures. This foundation should also give you the confidence to plan and make job applications as you study and chart your career moving forward.
After you graduate: Access to the LBS network
Becoming part of the LBS alumni network means being part of our diverse and dynamic network of professionals. Throughout your year studying, you’ll have ample opportunity to connect with alumni, industry experts, and fellow students. These connections can be invaluable, providing insights, mentorship, and potential job opportunities, so it is essential to take full advantage of these networking events on and off campus to support your career long after graduation.
When you graduate and become part of the network yourself, you’ll automatically access the Alumni Career Centre. Joining this established network of alumni ensures you’ll be invited to upcoming events, can use specific career resources that are relevant to your career stage, and gain access to Alumni Careers, our e-learning platform that helps facilitate career-related learning.
