Fabricio Brasileiro had an 18-year career in Cyber Security, but still had some important gaps to fill. He joined the 2021 cohort, and since graduating has landed an amazing opportunity in London. - Can you give us a brief introduction?
My name is Fabricio, and I am a Brazilian with a deep interest in new technologies and inventions that contribute to the betterment of the world. With 18 years of experience in the global Cyber Security market, I have had the privilege of working with esteemed industry leaders. Specializing in software and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies, my expertise encompasses a wide range of areas including compliance, digital fraud prevention, cyber-attacks, identity and intellectual data protection, and data center transformations.
- What are you proud of in your career?
My active contributions have been instrumental in advancing Cybersecurity within the realms of IoT and AI, recognizing the intrinsic interplay between these domains and the pivotal role Cybersecurity plays in their ongoing development.
I have played a key part in establishing strategic partnerships, expanding market presence, and driving revenue growth. These experiences have honed my skills in navigating complex business landscapes and have given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the cybersecurity industry.
- What gaps were you hoping to fill on the Sloan Programme?
I recognized that international experience and exposure to diverse profiles from various industries were crucial gaps that needed to be filled. Joining the Sloan cohort provided me with an opportunity to learn from highly experienced professionals who had successfully created, expanded, and led teams in global settings, navigating diverse cultures and unique challenges.
This experience exposed me to unfamiliar situations, such as leadership and financial skills, which I had not previously encountered. Prior to joining the Sloan program, my challenges were primarily technical and business-related, but I recognized the importance of thinking holistically and solving problems from a broader perspective.
- Why did you choose the London Business School Sloan?
I carefully evaluated each institution based on specific criteria that were important to me: international exposure, industry expertise, and a focus on Strategy and leadership. After receiving four different offer letters, I found myself in a bit of a conundrum, unsure of which path to pursue.
Ultimately, London emerged as the frontrunner. It presented an unparalleled opportunity to immerse myself in a vibrant international hub, known for its diverse business landscape and global connections. The city’s reputation as a center for finance and innovation aligned perfectly with my aspirations for furthering my expertise in these areas.
Upon enrolling in the LBS Sloan program, my initial hunch was confirmed – I had made the right choice. The program’s distinctive approach, coupled with the expertise of the faculty and the caliber of the cohort, surpassed my expectations.
- How did you search for/ secure your new role after graduating?
Through effective networking and showcasing my purpose for joining the program, I was able to establish meaningful connections. Interestingly, this endeavor coincided with the burgeoning demand and immense potential within the cybersecurity market, which presented one of the most significant opportunities in today’s business landscape.
Seizing upon this momentum, I utilized the networking contacts I had cultivated to my advantage. This, in turn, opened doors to internal and external opportunities within my company. I attribute the success to the fact that I started early in nurturing and leveraging my connections.
- How has this experience affected you personally?
One of the most significant aspects of the program was its ability to broaden my perspectives. Through exposure to diverse cohorts comprising individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and industries, I gained invaluable insights into different ways of thinking and approaching challenges.
Moreover, the program served as a catalyst for the cultivation of strong leadership abilities. Engaging in interactive discussions, collaborating on team projects, and being exposed to real-world leadership scenarios helped me develop essential leadership skills. I learned how to effectively communicate, motivate teams, and navigate through challenging situations. These experiences have not only bolstered my confidence as a leader but have also equipped me with the tools necessary to drive positive change within organizations.
Another significant impact was its emphasis on lifelong learning. Instilled in me a mindset of continuous growth and development. By immersing myself in a rich academic environment and engaging with cutting-edge research and industry trends, I have cultivated a genuine passion for ongoing learning. This mindset allows me to stay ahead of the curve and adapt to evolving business landscapes, ensuring that I remain relevant and equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
Additionally, the program provided a supportive and nurturing network of like-minded individuals. Building meaningful relationships with classmates, faculty, and alumni has been instrumental in my personal growth. The connections formed during the program have not only provided a strong support system but have also opened doors to new opportunities, collaborations, and lifelong friendships. Being part of this network has further reinforced my sense of belonging and provided a continuous source of motivation.
- What advice would you give to a middle manager or leader in tech who is considering this programme?
