Welcoming the new LBS Sloan class to campus

by Linden Selby, Senior Admissions Manager, Sloan & EMBA-Global

What do a singer in a funk band, a wine specialist, an archer and a wedding planner have in common? These are just some of the many hobbies and interests of the Sloan 2019 class that start on Monday 7 January.

Of course we will be updating the blog and website with the latest statistics, and the class directory, but for now we are happily anticipating the arrival of this class, and getting to know them as they start their LBS and Sloan journey.

They have a great week ahead – with a focus on building their understanding and skills in Executive Leadership, with Herminia Ibarra, Professor in Organisational Behaviour.  At the forefront of research into Leadership this will be a brilliant starting point for their first term’s classes.

They are well equipped for learning, over 60% have studied at postgraduate level already, with Masters’ degrees including the expected MBAs, Economics, Finance but also English Literature, Aeronautical Engineering, Chemistry, Politics and Latin and Ancient History.

Our Sloan class is made up of interesting, eclectic individuals who have all taken the step (with their families) to immerse themselves in learning and refresh their minds, knowledge and networks. For many of them it is also a family adventure.

In a whirlwind of managing schools, mobile phones, bank accounts, renting accommodation and settling the kids in – the focus of this week will be getting to know each other for real rather than through the LinkedIn and WhatsApp groups.

If you would like to be part of the class of Sloan 2020, applications are now open and the first deadline for is 5 March 2019. More information can be found here.

As usual, all your comments and suggestions are welcome. Let us know about any topic you want to see on the blog and we will do our best to make it happen.

Right now Admissions is going to take a few days to enjoy this class!
