EMBA-Global Experience Days

by Ashley Curry, Admissions Manager, LBS Sloan Masters & EMBA-Global programmes

In October, we hosted our very first EMBA-Global ‘Experience Day’, and have been so pleased that it was such a success!

EMBA-Global core classes are structured in block weeks, and alternate between the London Business School campus and the Columbia Business School campus each month. To give people a taste of what this is like, we decided to substitute our traditional monthly information session with a more interactive experience during the class week in London. We invited prospective students, applicants, and admits from around the world and were thrilled to have visitors make the journey from Europe, the Middle East, USA and Asia!

Successful applicants had the opportunity to interview in the morning, and join the activities for the rest of the day. EMBA-Global applicants are required to interview in person so this was a great opportunity to combine an interview with an information day, campus experience, and introduction to current students, faculty, and the programme team.

We will likely hold another experience day in the future. Please register your interest by connecting with the Recruitment team. The class visit itself has limited availability and so you would need to submit an RSVP in advance.

Example Schedule:

9:00-11:00 – Interview slots
Interviews take approximately 45 minutes and are conducted by a member of the Admissions team (from both LBS and CBS).

11:00 – Registration
The Admissions team will register you, give you a visitor pass, detailed schedule, and answer questions. During this time you’ll have the opportunity to network with other prospective students, applicants and admits.

11:30 – Lunch
You are invited to dine with the EMBA-Global students, where they’re happy to informally share their experience on the programme so far.

12:00 – Student-Led session
Students often invite impressive guest speakers to give an optional lecture. We had a presentation from AstraZeneca at the October event, which was very well attended and the feedback was great.

13:15 – Career Centre session
The Careers Centre team give an in-depth presentation and interactive session on the career support and resources available to you at LBS.

14:00 – Coffee Break and networking with current students
Another opportunity to get all your burning questions answered.

14:30 – Life Outside of the Classroom session
The programme director leads an alumni panel to share their experiences ‘outside the classroom’ during their time on the programme. Everything from joining clubs, taking part in the Global Business Assignment (GBA) and social life is covered.

15:30 – Closing Speech from the Executive Director

16:00 – Final Coffee Break with current students

16:30 – Class Visit
5-8 attendees will be invited to sit in on an actual EMBA-Global class. It is the perfect way to round off the day and your opportunity to experience first-hand the diversity of the class (nationality, industry and function), the quality of the faculty, and the insightful classroom discussions.
